My Top 10 Favourite Records (so far)

For my birthday a few years ago my parents got me a record player, something I had wanted for absolutely ages! They didn't get me one of those 'fancy' ones from Urban Outfitters that are overpriced and poor quality, they got me a less fancy but better faulty one from Steepletone. So, over the years my collection of vinyl has grown and keeps on growing and I wanted to (briefly) talk you through my top 10 records so far...

The Beatles, Rubber Soul | Blondie, Parallel Lines | George Harrison, Cloud Nine | Fleetwood Mac, Tango In The Night | Dave Clark Five, 25 Thumping Hits

The Beatles where always going to feature in my list of records that I love and Rubber Soul (in my humble opinion) is one of their best records! The trackless includes Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood and I'm Looking Through You - three of my favourite Beatles songs. And my favourite Beatle? George of course which is why George Harrison's Cloud Nine is also here with Got My Mind Set On You as the last track you know it's a good'un. Fleetwood Mac and Blondie are doing it for the girls and, while they both bring very different sounds to the table, they're two of my favourite bands with a woman lead. Not something you see a lot of today. This last record here from Dave Clark Five was my last aunt's so it's something that I will always treasure and I'm glad I have something from her that see enjoyed so much - apparently Bits and Pieces was on loop when her and my mum were young!

Bombay Bicycle Club, So Long See You Tomorrow | The Beatles, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band | Haim, Days Are Gone | Cat Stevens, Teaser And The Fireboat | Elton John, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Starting with the newer albums to grace my collection (I don't really buy many new) is Haim's Days Are Gone and the latest record from Bombay Bicycle Club. My brother got me Haim for my birthday and I absolutely love it, after listening to the album over and over when it first came out on my computer it was a whole different story when I listened to it on vinyl - that's the same with Bombay also. I went and saw them for the final time (they're taking a break from music) at Earl's Court a year or so ago and loved it so much that I wanted to invest (records new are expensive, man) in something that would remind me of that night. Of course, Beatles are here again and this time with a slightly different sound - it's the psychedelic stage of their time as a band and I love this record - my brother got it for me for my birthday this year from Sainsbury's (yup, they do records). Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is one of my favourite Elton John songs, as is Bennie And The Jets and Candle In The Wind - all of which feature on this record so it had to be in my top ten. And, last but not least is my record from Cat Stevens - I own a few of his records but this one stands out as it has the melancholic song Morning Has Broken which I absolutely adore and will put on when I'm having some down time.

Do any of you guys own vinyl and do you have a favourite record in your collection? Let me know in the comment box below!
